3.1 Install WordPress With One Click

  • Your progress:

We’ve successfully secured our domain and web hosting account through SiteGround. When we visit our domain, dbcrib.com, it’s evident that an incredible site is in the making, and you’re absolutely right about the potential, SiteGround.

In order to achieve our vision, we need to install WordPress. Thankfully, SiteGround makes this process super simple with a one-click installation. Here’s how to get started:

  1. Go to your SiteGround account, and click on “Websites” in the main menu. You may see a list of websites on your account, and you can select the one you want to work with.
  2. Click the “Complete” link. If you’re migrating a website from another hosting account, there’s an option for that, but we’re creating a new website from scratch, so click “Start New Website.”
  3. You can choose the application you want to install. Since we’re aiming for WordPress, select “WordPress.”
  4. Provide your email address, which will also serve as your login username. Choose a secure password and click “Continue.”
  5. You can skip adding the SiteGround Site Scanner and domain privacy if you don’t require them. Just click “Finish.”

SiteGround will take care of setting up the WordPress installation, configuring the database, installing WordPress, and connecting it – all the technical work is handled for you.

While you’re waiting for this process to complete, feel free to support us by hitting the like button or leaving a comment on this video – your engagement is much appreciated.

Perfect! Your website with the domain dbcrib.com has been created. You don’t need to manually point your domain to the host servers because both your domain and web hosting account are with SiteGround. This happens automatically within your account.

You can also manage your website through Site Tools. Click on “Manage Site” to access various options for your website, such as managing email accounts, accessing the file manager, and handling backups, which are available for free in all SiteGround accounts.

Now, let’s look closer at the SSL manager and the HTTPS enforcement to ensure a secure connection for our website. As you can see, when you visit dbcrib.com, it may look different with a default WordPress theme and the text “My WordPress” – indicating a successful installation.

To log in to WordPress, simply type your domain followed by “/wp-admin.” For instance, divicrib.com/wp-admin. You’ll be directed to the login screen where you can enter your credentials. If you ever forget your password, don’t worry; you can click “Lost your password” to reset it.

Once you’re logged in, you’ll be in the WordPress dashboard. This is a customized SiteGround welcome screen. You can exit it by clicking the “Exit” link below and access the default WordPress dashboard.

This marks the completion of the WordPress installation. In the upcoming chapters, we’ll explore various settings, install a theme, examine essential plugins, and, most importantly, create a fantastic custom website design.

All links, files and code snippets mentioned in the chapter is available below.
